The India Hockey Federation has ordered jets from the Netherlands and the Netherlands to transport its team from Europe, to participate in the first time in India.
The flight from Rotterdam to Chennai on December 10 is part of the ongoing effort to bring hockey to India.
The flight will be the first by an Indian hockey team since the country was ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for more than half a century.
The team will also travel to India on December 19 for a one-day tournament in the city of Jaipur, the team’s coach Deepak Shinde told reporters on Friday.
The first Indian hockey tournament, held in 2011, drew around 200,000 spectators and was won by the national team of India.
The team was inducted into the National Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.
